Turquoise has been my stone since before I knew why.
Growing up in Cali, I saw it everywhere, in the markets, on the hands of older women who wore it like armor, in the colors of the sky over the Valle del Cauca on a clear morning. Then I came to Colorado and found it again, this time in the earth itself, in the canyons and mesa stones and the whole wide sky. Turquoise followed me across continents and I stopped questioning it.
